Can't get into a flat or room
What each "you can't come in" message means, and how to get past it.

Why can't I get in?
When flat.social can't let you in, it tells you why. Find the message you're seeing below. Most of these are settings chosen by the flat's host, so if you think you should have access, contact whoever sent you the link.
"This flat is currently closed"
The host has closed the flat, usually between events or while setting up. Only the owner and people whose role includes Always Access Flat can get in while it's closed, even if you were invited. Wait until the host opens it again, or ask them.
"You cannot access this flat"
The flat only admits people with an email address at certain domains, for example company.com. Sign in with your work account. If you signed up with email and password, make sure you've verified your email address; unverified addresses don't count. See Manage your account.
"Sign in required"
The host doesn't allow anonymous guests. Click Sign in and use (or create) a flat.social account.
"This space is full right now"
The flat has reached the number of people its plan allows at once. You don't need to do anything: stay on the page and it tries again every 10 seconds ("Trying again in {seconds}s"), letting you in as soon as someone leaves. Click Try now to check immediately. Hosts can add capacity; see When your flat is full.
"You have been kicked" or "You have been banned"
A host removed you. After a kick you can click Rejoin. A ban keeps you out of that flat until the host lifts it. If you think it was a mistake, contact the host.
"Open in your browser to join"
You opened the link inside an app like Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, or LinkedIn. Their built-in browsers can't use your camera or microphone. Tap Open in Safari (or Open in browser), or Copy link and paste it into Safari or Chrome. If you only want to look around, Continue here anyway lets you in without a camera or mic.
"3D isn't available on this device"
Your browser couldn't start 3D graphics, which Open Spatial rooms need. This happens on virtual machines, remote desktops, or when hardware acceleration is turned off. Try Chrome or Edge on a regular computer, turn hardware acceleration on in your browser settings, or click Reload. Conference rooms don't need 3D. See Graphics and performance.
Flat and room links look like flat.social/f/flat-name/room-name. If the host renamed the flat, older links stop working; ask them for the new one. Invitations also expire after 30 days, and the host can resend them.
