How do I join a space in flat.social?
Open the link your host shared, allow your microphone, set the name others will see, and join. Then move your avatar with the W A S D keys and walk up to someone to talk. There is nothing to install, and most people are in within a minute.
How to join a space
The guest happy path, start to finish.
- 1Open the link
Click the link your host shared. Flat.social loads right in your browser, no download needed.
- 2Allow your mic
When your browser asks, allow your microphone (and camera, if you want video). Flat.social needs your mic so people can hear you.
- 3Set your name
On the setup screen, type the name others will see and check that the right devices are selected. More: Set name and avatar.
- 4Join the room
Select Join Room to enter. You appear as an avatar, ready to move.
- 5Move with W/A/S/D
Walk around with the W A S D keys (or the arrow keys). More: Move your avatar.
- 6Walk up to someone to talk
Get close to another avatar and their voice grows louder, just like real life. Step away and it fades. More: How spatial audio works.
You can join with your camera off and turn it on later from the controls at the bottom of the room. See Audio and video controls.
