How to join an online meeting on flat.social?

Learn how to join the meeting in no time!

Joining in two easy steps

Firstly, you need to join is an invite link. If you don't have it, please reach out to the host to request it. If your host doesn't know where to find it, the previous article about invites might help.

Secondly, you don't need to download anything to join a meeting on flat.social. The experience runs fully in your web browser both on desktop and mobile. We recommend using Chrome or Safari for the best performance.

Once you obtained the link it's try to get in.

1. Enter your name

The name that you enter will be visible to all of the other participants that are currently in the flat. It doesn't have to be your real name, just a username that will identify you. ChickenNugget420 will do as fine as your real name and surname. We do however recommend being mindful of other participants in the meeting.

2. Connect audio & video

Audio and video must be connected for you to enter the flat. If you're having problems with it, please have a look at our trouble shooting guide.

You can mute your audio and video right after connecting it. It means that when you join, other participants in the meeting won't be able to hear or see you. You can switch it back on whenever you like.

3. Join the space!

Dependently on which link you have used to get into the space, you will end up in the virtual space lobby or in a specific room that you have been invited to. Next, try some moves! If you don't know how yet, learn more about movement and interaction.

Anonymous vs. registered participants

Guests can join a meeting on flat.social without being a registered user on the service. This eases the friction and makes entering the space easier.

Although it's possible to join without signing up, we suggest that you create an account to experience the full spectrum of features available on flat.social. Certain functionalities like adding images are available only to registered users.
