Where are the audio and video controls in flat.social?
Your audio and video controls live in the bar at the bottom of the room. From there you can mute or unmute your microphone, turn your camera on or off, and open settings to switch devices. Two keyboard shortcuts cover the controls you reach for most.
Mute and unmute your mic
Click the microphone button to mute or unmute, or press Ctrl/⌘ Shift A. The button shows whether you are live, so a quick glance tells you if people can hear you.
Mute yourself when you are not talking in a busy room. Background noise carries, and spatial audio means anyone who walks up will hear it.
Turn your camera on or off
Click the camera button to toggle video, or press Ctrl/⌘ Shift V. With your camera on, your video shows on your avatar so nearby people can see you. Turn it off any time and you go back to just your avatar.
You can join with the camera off and switch it on later, or leave it off for the whole session.
The mute shortcut Ctrl/⌘ Shift A is the fastest way to silence yourself when a notification or doorbell goes off mid-conversation.
Switch your microphone, camera, or speaker
Hover the microphone or camera button and open its settings to reach the audio and video sections. There you can pick a different input device and choose your speaker (audio output). Plugged in headphones partway through? Switch your output there and sound moves to them.

Screen sharing is available in Conference rooms, not in spatial rooms. If you need to show your screen, ask the host whether a Conference room fits.
