What is the lobby in flat.social?
The lobby is the landing area where guests arrive and pick a room to enter. You organize it with named categories, drag-and-drop ordering, and featured rooms, so people find the right space at a glance.
How do I organize my flat lobby?
To organize your lobby, open Settings and go to Rooms. There you group rooms into categories, drag rooms to reorder them, and mark rooms as featured. A tidy lobby matters most at busy events: when 60 people land at once, clear sections and a Happening Now highlight tell them where to go.
If you have not added rooms yet, start with Create & configure rooms.
Group rooms into categories
Categories are named sections that hold related rooms. Each category has a name, an optional description, and a color tint so it stands out. Picture a conference lobby split into "Main Stage", "Workshops", and "Networking", each holding its own rooms.
Categories keep a long room list scannable and let guests jump straight to the part of your event they care about.
How to organize your lobby
- 1Open the Rooms settings
Go to Settings and open the Rooms section. You see all your rooms listed here.
- 2Create a category
Add a category, give it a name, an optional description, and a color tint to group related rooms.
- 3Reorder by dragging
Use the drag handle on the left of each room row to reorder rooms within a category or move them between categories.
- 4Feature your live rooms
Mark the rooms you want to spotlight as featured so they appear in the Happening Now highlight at the top of the lobby.
Feature rooms with Happening Now
Featured rooms appear in a Happening Now highlight at the top of the lobby, pulling attention to what is live or important right now. Feature your keynote room when the talk starts, then switch the spotlight to the networking floor afterward.
Use featuring as a live signal during an event, not a permanent label. Update it as the agenda moves.
Drag your active room to the top of its category so latecomers spot it first. Pair this with announcements to point everyone in the right direction.
