How do I create a space on flat.social?

Create a flat, add an Open Spatial room, set who can join, then share the link. The whole thing takes a few minutes, and you can change everything later. This page is the short version. Each step links to a deeper guide if you want more detail.

How to create a space

The organizer happy path, start to finish.

  1. 1
    Create your flat

Sign in, create a new flat, give it a name, and pick a short URL. This is the home for all your rooms. Full guide: Create a flat.

  2. 2
    Add an Open Spatial room

Inside your flat, add a room and choose the Open Spatial type so people can walk around and talk by proximity. More: Create and configure rooms.

  3. 3
    Set who can join

Decide whether anyone with the link can enter, or limit access to certain people or email domains. More: Privacy and access.

  4. 4
    Share the link

Copy your room or flat link and send it to your guests. They open it in a browser and walk straight in. More: Invite people.

Want it to look like yours? After the basics work, set a vibe and map and add your logo and branding.

What to do after your room is live

Once people can join, a few extra steps make events run smoothly. Add helper roles so others can moderate, arrange your lobby so guests know where to go, and check who is online during the event. Picture this: you are hosting a 50-person meetup, so you give two co-hosts moderator roles before doors open and label your rooms in the lobby ahead of time.

You can change almost everything later

Names, maps, vibes, access rules, and roles are all editable after launch. Set up the basics first, then refine as you go.
