How do I control who can join my flat?
You control access in Settings under Access. There you choose whether your flat is open or closed, set a domain allowlist for company-only spaces, and decide whether guests can join without an account. These settings apply to your whole flat, so they cover every room at once.
The right setup depends on your event. A public meetup wants open access, while an internal all-hands wants it locked to one email domain.
What is the difference between an open and closed flat?
An open flat lets anyone with the link join. A closed flat is restricted, so only invited or approved people get in. You toggle this with the Closed flat switch in Access settings.
How to set access for your flat
- 1Open Access settings
Go to Settings and open the Access section.
- 2Choose open or closed
Leave Closed flat off to let anyone with the link join, or turn it on to restrict access to invited users.
- 3Add allowed domains (optional)
Under Allowed Domains, type an email domain like company.com and click Add. You can list up to 10 domains.
- 4Set the guest toggle
Use Allow Anonymous Users to let people join with just a name, or turn it off to require an account.
- 5Save your settings
Click Save. The new rules apply to your whole flat right away.
Restrict to your company with a domain allowlist
The Allowed Domains list lets only people with an email at those domains join. Add up to 10 domains, such as company.com, so an internal town hall stays internal. Anyone whose email is not on the list is turned away.
This is the simplest way to keep a work space to employees without managing an invite list person by person.
Let guests in without an account
The Allow Anonymous Users toggle decides whether people can join with just a name and no sign-up. Leave it on for public events where friction kills attendance. Turn it off when you need every attendee tied to a real account.
Note that anonymous guests have no email, so if you also use a domain allowlist, those guests will be blocked by it.
You can rename your flat URL in settings, but every link you already shared stops working. After a rename, send out the new address. See Invite people for sharing.
